How Student Pricing Works
We don’t pretend that student films have Hollywood budgets. Our student rates are designed to be genuinely affordable, not just slightly less expensive than our standard rates. When you contact us with a valid student ID from a recognized film program, you get access to pricing that makes sense for your reality.
We also offer flexible time blocks because we know student shoots rarely run on schedule. Your twelve-hour day might turn into eight because your actor got sick. Your four-hour block might run long because you discovered a camera issue in hour two. We build that flexibility into our student bookings.
The equipment inclusion matters too. Most students don’t own full lighting packages. They might have a camera and a basic audio kit, but lights are expensive. Booking as a Student
The process is straightforward. Email or call us and mention that you’re a student. We’ll ask for your school, your project timeline, and what you’re trying to shoot. From there, we recommend sets that fit your story and time blocks that fit your budget.
We recommend booking early, especially around thesis deadlines. Every film program in LA has the same crunch periods. November and April are particularly busy because that’s when most thesis projects shoot. If you know your dates, reserve them as soon as possible.
Bring your student ID on the day of the shoot. Have your shot list ready. Know which set you’re using and for how long. The more prepared you are, the more you can accomplish in your rental block. And if something goes wrong, which it sometimes does, our staff is around to help troubleshoot. We’ve seen every student film problem imaginable.
