01 May Hourly Film Studio Rental in Los Angeles
HOURLY FILM STUDIO RENTAL IN LOS ANGELES
Why Pay for 12 Hours When You Only Need Four?
The Reality of Short Shoots
Most productions in Los Angeles don’t actually need a full day. I know, everyone books 12-hour blocks because that’s what the big studios do. But if you’re shooting a three-minute interview, a pickup scene for your short film, or a batch of self-tapes for pilot season, tying up an entire day makes no sense financially. You’re burning money on hours you won’t use.
At Warehouse 1 Productions, we get it. We’ve been on enough sets ourselves to know that sometimes you just need the space for a few hours. That’s why we offer hourly film studio rental options that don’t force you into some rigid, all-day commitment. You book what you need. Nothing more.
What Four Hours Actually Gets You
People underestimate what they can accomplish in a focused half-day session. Four hours in a controlled studio environment is a lot of time if you walk in prepared. We’ve seen producers knock out six interview segments in one block. We’ve seen actors film three different self-tape auditions with completely different backdrops by just moving from our Office set to our Living Room set.
Hourly rentals work especially well for specific setups. Our Interrogation Room gets booked for two-hour police drama scenes all the time. The Cafe/Bar set sees a lot of quick commercial shoots. The Office set is popular with corporate video teams who just need B-roll and a few talking heads. These aren’t massive productions. They’re smart productions.
WHY HOURLY RENTALS WORK
Book 2 hours or 6. Your call.
Walk in and start filming. No build time.
No hidden fees for lights, props, or setup.
Switch from Office to Living Room in minutes.
Ground-level access. No freight elevators.
How the Pricing Actually Works
Let’s talk numbers for a second because this is where most people get confused. Hourly studio rental in Los Angeles doesn’t mean you’re paying some outrageous premium for flexibility. At Warehouse 1, our hourly structure is straightforward. You pick your set, you pick your time block, and you know exactly what you’re spending before you show up.
There are no surprise fees for using our lights. No extra charge for moving a couch to a different wall. No penalties if you finish early. We’ve seen other studios in the Valley nickel-and-dime productions for every little thing, and frankly, it’s exhausting. Your energy should go into making the scene work, not arguing with a studio manager about whether a c-stand counts as “equipment.”
If you’re not sure whether hourly makes sense for your specific project, just call us. Seriously. We can look at your shot list and tell you pretty quickly whether you need a half-day block or something longer. Sometimes producers think they need eight hours and we can see from their breakdown that four is plenty. We’d rather you save the money and come back for your next project.
WAREHOUSE 1 PRODUCTIONS NOTE
“We started offering hourly blocks because our own clients asked for them. Indie filmmakers were tired of paying for full days they didn’t use. Corporate clients only needed three hours of interview footage. Actors wanted two-hour self-tape sessions. The demand was there, so we built the structure around it. Now it’s one of our most popular booking formats.”
Sets That Work Best for Short Rentals
Not every set makes sense for a quick turnaround, but several of ours are built specifically for efficient shooting. The Living Room set is probably our most booked hourly space. It’s versatile, it lights well from almost any angle, and it works for everything from dramatic scenes to product demos.
The Office set is another favorite for short blocks. Corporate video teams love it because it looks like a real workplace without the headaches of shooting in an actual office. No employees walking through the frame. No phone ringing in the background. No boss asking why there’s a camera in the conference room.
Our Interrogation Room gets a lot of two-to-four-hour bookings from true crime productions, student films, and procedural dramas. It’s a specific look that doesn’t require much dressing. You bring your actors, your props, and you’re basically ready to go. Same with the Alleyway for grittier, urban scenes that need that textured LA look.

The Booking Process Is Simple
We don’t make you jump through hoops. You call or email, tell us what you’re shooting and how long you think you need, and we check availability. If you’re not sure which set fits your scene, we can walk you through the options. We’ve had directors send us storyboards and we literally map out which of our spaces works for each shot.
Once you book, you get load-in details, parking info, and a quick rundown of what’s included. We don’t hand you a 20-page contract full of restrictions. The goal is to get you shooting as fast as possible with as little friction as we can manage.
And here’s something people don’t always think about. Because we have multiple standing sets under one roof, you can actually book two different looks in one hourly block. Spend two hours in the Living Room, take a quick lunch, then shoot two hours in the Cafe/Bar. That’s two completely different locations for your project, zero company moves, and no traffic headaches driving across Los Angeles.
